Tanya Polec, OD, FCOVD
Dr. Tanya Polec knows first hand the importance of looking beyond 20/20. Vision therapy helped her overcome significant visual problems that were not diagnosed until she was a teenager. Although she received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Arizona in Molecular and Cellular Biology, Dr. Polec's deep understanding of her own struggles and experiences with visual difficulties inspired her to return to the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, to become a Developmental Optometrist. Dr. Polec achieved the designation of Fellow with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) in 2005. Fellows of COVD emphasize a functional and behavioral approach to patient evaluations, in-depth testing for developmental vision problems, and prescribe relevant treatments at correcting existing vision problems and enhancing visual abilities.
Dr. Polec is committed to creating awareness about the importance of a fully functioning visual system and, as such, enjoys lecturing and collaborating with peers and educators in interdisciplinary and related fields. She has lectured at numerous hospitals, rehabilitation centers and schools. Her knowledge and skills are matched only by her total commitment to improving the lives of her patients. At VQ learning sport rehab, her practice in North Central Tucson, Dr. Polec specializes in treating a wide range of visual system issues including: general eye care, Strabismus (eye turns), Amblyopia (lazy eyes), sports vision training, learning- related difficulties, and the Traumatic Brain Injured. The office also has a specialized optical center for prescription needs.
